Designing t-shirts is pretty much a dream job. Come up with something clever and put it on fabric. But for Microsoft you have to go a couple steps further. Aside from the funny nerd shirts our real idea was researching about “big data” and figuring out what it meant and coming up with interesting ways to visualize that concept itself using different data visualization techniques such as networks and hairballs. Then we thought it would be cool to make a puzzle out of it. So the visuals are present but not the data. The visuals spell out a definition of big data and visualization. They then used that concept as part of their trade show booth. Proving that the extra time we put into research and concepting is key to what we produce.
